Hello Hampton Village,

Our last meeting was held on March 15 at which time a lot was accomplished. Please take the time to check out the minutes that have been uploaded to our website. (http://www.hamptonvillagecommunity.com)
A couple of the highlights are that a committee has been put together to plan both the community garage sale (May 15 & 16) as well as the fun day in the park (June 20). Both committees are pretty much made up of the same few people so please VOLUNTEER so that we can make the day great. Contact Jenny Upton, who has become our special events coordinator. You can contact Jenny by sending an email to  This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . Volunteer are desperately needed!!
While I am speaking about volunteers, the Dundonald community association has asked to join with us for all indoor recreation. The idea makes great sense as we are not quite big enough to do it ourselves. What Dundonald needs from us is a volunteer to be the indoor recreation coordinator. Without one of us filling the position, there is likely not going to be any activities this fall. The idea is to have a Hampton Village representative and a Dundonald representative work together. If you are interested in this position, let me know as soon as possible.
Our newsletter is going to be coming out at the beginning of May. This newsletter is going to be delivered door to door so that we can run it as a membership drive. Josh is organizing the drive so please email him at  This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it to volunteer for the drive.
We have the $2100 dollar grant from the city for our operating cost. I also talked with Myles Heidt, who informed me that the rezoning will most likely go ahead, however he is making sure that very strict building guidelines are in place.
Last but most importantly, our meetings are now going to be held at Dundonald School. April 19 at 7:00 in Dundonald School Library.  If you have anything that you would like on the agenda, please email me and I will add it. At our next meeting, two speakers are going to start off by telling us about the day care struggles that they have been having.
Please forward this email to anyone you know that is not on the list.
Enjoy the month,

Matt Ingrouille

Hello Hampton Village,
I hope all of you are enjoying the last few weeks of winter before spring begins. We had our last meeting on February 22, 2010. Our association is in full swing and looking great. I have uploaded our meeting minutes to the website under the "minute" tab so please take a look.
I wanted to point out a couple highlights and goals that we have set. We have an official secretary - Shar-Lee Haichert. She has also volunteered to be the Newsletter editor. The newsletter committee is made up of Abby Schoonmaker, Heidi Langford, and Erin Field. Once we get our first one printed, we will incorporate that one into our membership drive. We are going to have a  day in the park this summer and will be requiring volunteers to put a committee together. We have also discussed having a community garage sale to raise some funds. A committee will be needed to help organize that as well.
I am currently researching the use of advertising as a fundraiser. I will be discussing some options and pricing at the next meeting. If you or anyone you know is interested in advertising on our site as well as in our newsletter, please let me know.
Caroline Robins School has volunteered to give us a mailbox. This should be set shortly and people can then mail in their membership forms.
Our monthly meetings have been set to the third monday of each month. March 15, 2010 is our next meeting.
I have attached an updated contact list.
See you all on March 15th, 2010. An agenda will be sent out closer to the date.

Rezoning Afterthoughts PDF Print E-mail

Saturday, 28 November 2009 18:00

On November 24th, 2009, 3 employees of the city of Saskatoon hosted a discussion with members of Hampton Village to discuss the rezoning of some land. The city's desire is to rezone land that is currently set for standard townhouses near Hampton circle to a style of townhouse that will allow an additional floor and is a little closer to the sidewalk. The ultimate goal is to provide "entry-level" housing. Entry level housing is NOT low income housing and they made sure that we know that.

The new zoning will have up to 60 units in the same land space. The price point that they wish to hit would be $200,000 - $250,000.

The meeting concluded with our community members informing the city employees that there are townhouses available in a price point that is close to their entry level price; therefore, "what's the point of rezoning!"

There were about 11 community members that came out. The majority of people were under the age of 30; therefore, if this is the age group targeted with "entry-level" housing, we are already here!!

The Saskatchewan roughriders lose because of having to many men on the field, giving Montreal another attempt at the field goal that they had just missed. Final score: Saskatchewan - 27 Montreal - 28

Hampton Village is devastated!
