Hello Hampton Village, The Christmas season is finally here. Lights and snow covered roofs are starting to appear throughout the neighbourhood. With the Christmas season, comes a time for us to welcome family and friends from out of town as well as to host get togethers with those we care about. Please take this time to offer a warm cup of hot chocolate or tea to a neighbour and spread the word about our newly formed association. I hope that everyone has a wonderful Christmas and a happy New Year.
Now on to a little business. I would like to give a HUGE thank-you to Brent Upton for taking over as our official webmaster. As you can all see, our website is amazing! It is going to serve as an online meeting place for neighbours to find out about events, meetings, and even chat about issues. We are very lucky to have someone as web talented as Brent living in the Hamptons and willing to volunteer his time. With that said, we need to find out what other skills and talents we have living in this community. If anyone has a specific talent or trade that you would be willing to share, or if you have a skill that you would be willing to teach (such as art lessons, yoga, pilates, etc.), please send me an email so that we can start developing some program ideas. The Hampton Village Community Association now has a bank account with the Affinity Credit Union. The next plan is to fill it with money. To do that we will be selling family memberships for $10. Our treasurer, Kim Pedersen, is looking into membership cards and I am going to develop a form. We will most likely do a membership drive in the New Year. Revenue streams will eventually come from our programs, fundraising, and advertisement sales (online/newsletter). If you have any idea's for those, please let me know. An outdoor community rink is something that many people have shown interest in developing. It will be a small, cheap, and achievable goal for us to develop this year. It will most likely be temporary for now but will serve to be a great place for families to gather during the winter. On December 14th, the parks superintendent will be meeting with us at 1:30pm in Hampton Circle to discuss possible locations. Feel free to come out and offer an opinion. I am often emailed community events from the city of Saskatoon and will update our online calendar. If you have something going on that you would like Hampton Village to know about, email me or Brent and we can add it to the calendar as well. Thanks again for everyone who came out to the last meeting and getting our association started. Merry Christmas to you all, Matt Ingrouille |
